This article applies if you run your store on Squarespace and connect it to ReferralCandy with the email integration.
If you're on Squarespace, you can connect your store to ReferralCandy using email integration by following these steps:
Add ReferralCandy as a contributor to your store
Add a tracking code to your Squarespace store
Set up Squarespace integration
Step 1: Add ReferralCandy as a contributor
From the Squarespace dashboard, go to your store's website.
Go to Settings > Permissions & Ownership.
Click Invite Contributor. The invite form pops up.
Fill out the Squarespace invitation form to give permission to ReferralCandy.
On the ReferralCandy dashboard, go to Integrations > Standalone and copy your unique ReferralCandy email address.
Paste the unique email address into the invitation form and use "ReferralCandy" as the contributor name.
Switch on the Store Manager permission toggle to allow ReferralCandy to receive order invoices, without the ability to manage your site settings.
Click Invite to send the invitation. The invitation email arrives at your unique ReferralCandy address — open it from the Invoice History tab of the Purchases & referrals page on the ReferralCandy dashboard.
Open the email and click Accept Invitation. This takes you to a Squarespace page.
Click Continue with email and fill out the following information:
First name: ReferralCandy
Last name: Inbox
Email: [The unique ReferralCandy email address you copied in step 4]
Password: [Use any secure password]
Click Continue to create the account.
Step 2: Add a tracking code to your store
From your Squarespace store's website, open the Code Injection panel — in your site's menu, go to Website > Website Tools > Code Injection. Squarespace's Using code injection guide shows where the panel lives if your navigation looks different.
Find the Order status page section. The order status page is what customers land on after checking out with physical, download, and service products — this is where you'll paste the ReferralCandy tracking code.
Note: Customers can revisit their order status page at any time, so paste the code between Squarespace's
{.if firstPageView}and{.end}tags. That way the code only runs right after checkout and doesn't track duplicate purchase entries.Copy the code from the ReferralCandy Integrations > Standalone page.
Go back to Squarespace and paste the code in the Order status page code injection field, between the
{.if firstPageView}and{.end}tags.Click Save.
Selling gift cards, memberships, or subscriptions? Those checkouts land on Squarespace's separate Order confirmation page — paste the same tracking code into that section too.
Important: Squarespace previously used the Order confirmation page for all orders. If you added the ReferralCandy tracking code there in the past, Squarespace now shows a migration banner in the Code Injection panel — move the code into the Order status page field (between the {.if firstPageView} and {.end} tags) and confirm the migration in that banner. Until you do, new orders for physical products may not be tracked for referrals.
Once complete, your invoice emails are received by ReferralCandy for processing. Processed orders will show up on your Purchases & Referrals page.
Note: It may take up to 24 hours for ReferralCandy to process your first invoice email. Once completed the first time, subsequent invoice emails are processed immediately.
