When you set a minimum purchase amount, only purchases that meet the required minimum spend count towards a reward for the advocate or affiliate. These eligible referred purchases are called "rewardable" referrals.

Tips for setting a minimum purchase amount

  • The minimum purchase requirement is based on the subtotal after a discount code is applied.

  • For referral programs, it's recommended to set a low minimum purchase to encourage more participation. In some cases, you may want to target a higher cart value for reward eligibility, depending on the specific goals of your campaign.

  • If you're offering a cash reward, set a higher minimum purchase than the reward amount to avoid being out of pocket for each referral.

Changing the minimum purchase amount

To set the minimum purchase amount:

  1. From the ReferralCandy dashboard, go to Campaigns > Select your campaign > Rewards > Reward Settings tab.

  2. In the What makes a purchase rewardable? section, set the minimum spending amount in The purchase is at least... field.

  3. Set the number of rewardable referred purchases that count toward an advocate reward.

  4. Set the required number of referral purchases before an advocate gets a reward.

  5. Click Save changes.

Note: The minimum spending amount set is based on the subtotal amount, which is the amount after any discount is applied, but before taxes and shipping fees. Learn more
