This article applies if you manage your campaigns in your ReferralCandy account at my.referralcandy.com. If you're on Shopify, visit this article.

ReferralCandy provides dashboards, analytics, and reports about your referral and affiliate programs. Sign in at my.referralcandy.com and you'll find these across:

  • The Home page (a 7-day performance snapshot plus your campaign list)

  • The Analytics and Reports tabs under Referral campaigns

  • The Analytics and Reports tabs under Affiliate campaigns, plus the tabs inside each individual affiliate campaign

Home

The Home page (its on-page heading reads Dashboard) is what you land on when you sign in. It summarises campaign performance for the past 7 days — total referral revenue, total referred purchases, and referral rate — and below that lists all your referral and affiliate campaigns with their type and status.

The Home page also surfaces two things that need your attention: a Status card for account or campaign issues, and a Suspicious activity card that tells you how many advocates have been flagged, with a shortcut to the Fraud center. You may also see feature highlights and announcements here from time to time.

Home metrics

The Home page shows the following referral metrics over the past 7 days:

  • Total referral revenue — Revenue from all purchases referred friends made.

  • Total referred purchases — Number of all purchases referred friends made.

  • Referral rate — The percentage of referral purchases out of your total purchases. Calculated as: (total referred purchases / total invoices) × 100.

Referral campaigns

Referral campaigns have two reporting surfaces: an Analytics tab for trended metrics across your referral program, and a Reports tab for detailed activity summaries, sales data, and exports.

Analytics tab

The Referral campaigns page in the ReferralCandy dashboard with the Analytics tab selected, showing the Campaigns, Analytics and Reports tab row, a Last 30 days date filter, an All referral campaigns selector, and metric cards for Revenue from referrals, Referral rate, and Purchases made through referrals.

The Analytics tab shows more granular data about your referral program, including referral revenue, referred purchases, emails sent, and referral traffic from shares.

To access the Analytics tab for referral campaigns:

  1. Go to Referral campaigns.

  2. Click the Analytics tab.

At the top of the Analytics tab, use the filters to control what you're viewing: a date range (Last 30 days by default) and a campaign selector (a specific referral campaign, or All referral campaigns). Each metric card has sub-tabs so you can switch which metric the card charts.

Referral analytics metrics

The following metrics are available on the Analytics tab for referral campaigns:

  • Revenue from referrals

    • Total referral revenue — Revenue from all purchases referred friends made.

    • First referral revenue — Revenue from the first purchase referred friends made.

    • Subsequent referral revenue — Revenue from repeat purchases (2nd, 3rd, etc.) referred friends made.

  • Referral rate — The percentage of referral purchases out of your total purchases: (total referred purchases / total invoices) × 100.

  • Purchases made through referrals

    • Total referred purchases — Number of all purchases referred friends made.

    • First referred purchases — Number of first purchases referred friends made.

    • Repeat referred purchases — Number of repeat purchases (2nd, 3rd, etc.) referred friends made.

  • Revenue from rewarded advocates

    • Revenue from rewarded advocates — Revenue from purchases by advocates using discount codes received from successful referrals.

    • Purchases by advocates — Number of purchases by advocates using discount codes received from successful referrals.

These metrics only cover purchases where an advocate used a reward discount code from a successful referral — not advocates' broader purchase history. They're available for in-app viewing on the Analytics tab and are not part of the exportable Referral Report.

  • Welcome and reminder emails sent to advocates from ReferralCandy

    • New enrolled advocates — Number of new advocates who joined your campaign and can share their referral link with friends. Learn more

    • Welcome emails sent — Number of welcome emails sent to advocates nudging them to refer friends.

    • Welcome emails viewed — On the Analytics tab this is a percentage: the share of welcome emails sent to advocates that were opened. The chart for this sub-tab is titled Welcome emails opened. (On the Reports tab, the same label is a count.)

    • Reminder emails sent — Number of reminder emails sent to advocates nudging them to refer friends.

  • Shares by advocates resulting in referred traffic

    • Shares — Total number of referral link shares by advocates. This includes shares on Facebook, Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp, and X (formerly Twitter).

    • FOLP views — Number of unique friends who visited the Friend Offer Landing Page after an advocate shared their referral link. If you disabled the Friend Offer Page, this number is zero.

    • Store visits — Number of visits (first and repeat) to your store.

    • Unique store visits — Number of unique store visitors.

Reports tab

The Reports tab is your Referral Report — the name you'll hear from our support team. It shows a referral campaign activity summary, sharing data, sales and revenue figures, a list of referred purchases, and your top referrers. You can filter by date range, and export the data as a CSV or PDF file.

Scope: The Reports tab and the exportable Referral Report only cover purchases made by referred friends. ReferralCandy does not export advocate purchase history. The Analytics tab shows limited advocate-side metrics under Revenue from rewarded advocates and Purchases by advocates, but these are confined to advocate purchases made using a reward discount code received from successful referrals — and are viewable in-app only, not exportable. For broader advocate purchase analysis, cross-reference your store's own order data.

To access the Reports tab for referral campaigns:

  1. Go to Referral campaigns.

  2. Click the Reports tab.

Top Referrers. The Top Referrers ranking sits at the bottom of the Reports tab. It shows the top twenty contacts who have the most successful referrals. This includes referred purchases still within the review period, and excludes deleted and disqualified referrals.

You can export Reports tab data as PDF or CSV. The export will be sent to your login email address found in your Store details settings.

Note: If you're experiencing timeout errors when exporting reports, let us know and our support team can help investigate.

Exporting referral reports

To export referral reports, click Export in the top right corner of the Reports tab and select either CSV or PDF. Exported reports are sent to your login email address.

The exported report contains the following columns:

  • Purchase ID — The unique ID number assigned by ReferralCandy to each referred purchase.

  • External Reference ID — The ID number associated with a referred purchase assigned by your eCommerce platform (e.g., order ID).

  • Campaign Shortcode — The short code you set for the campaign. Where do I find my shortcode?

  • Referred Friend Name — The name provided by the referred friend upon making the referred purchase.

  • Referrer Name — The name provided by the advocate when they registered for your referral campaign.

  • Amount — The referred purchase amount.

  • Date — The date and time when the referred purchase was made.

  • Rewardable? — Whether the advocate is eligible to get rewarded from the referred purchase. Learn more

  • Commission Chargeable? — Whether ReferralCandy gets a commission from the referred purchase. Learn more

If you're running multiple campaigns and want to filter the reports for a specific campaign, export to CSV and add a filter to the Campaign Shortcode column to show the data for each individual campaign.

Activity summary

The Activity summary on the Reports tab shows the following data:

  • Welcome emails sent — The number of welcome emails sent to advocates. If 2 welcome emails are sent to the same email address, this is counted as 2 welcome emails sent. This covers post-purchase welcome emails, self-signup welcome emails, and emails sent via the Import Contacts tool.

  • Reminder emails sent — The number of reminder emails sent to advocates. If 2 reminder emails are sent to the same email address, this is counted as 2 reminder emails sent.

  • Welcome emails viewed — On the Reports tab this is a count: the number of times welcome emails were viewed. If someone views a welcome email twice, this is counted as 2 welcome emails viewed. This covers post-purchase welcome emails, self-signup welcome emails, and emails sent via the Import Contacts tool. (On the Analytics tab, the same label is a percentage.)

  • Referral link clicks (Unique) — The number of persons that clicked referral links shared by advocates. A person clicking the link two times will count as 1 referral link click.

  • Store visits (Unique) — The number of persons that visited your store after clicking the referral link, either from the friend landing page or by getting redirected automatically. A person visiting your store two times will count as 1 website visit.

  • Purchases by referred customers (Unique) — The number of purchases made by customers who were referred by advocates (i.e. referred friends).

    • Note: This number does not include referred purchases that are marked as invalid or canceled.

Sales & Revenue

The Sales & Revenue section on the Reports tab shows the following data:

  • Referral sales — Total revenue from referred purchases.

  • Cash rewards paid out — Total cash rewards paid to advocates for successful referrals.

  • Additional revenue generated — The difference between referral sales and cash rewards paid out (Referral sales − Cash rewards paid out).

Share

The Share section on the Reports tab shows social media sharing data for Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), Messenger, and WhatsApp:

  • Shares — The number of social media shares by advocates during the period set. An advocate sharing on a social media site twice during the period will be counted as 2 shares.

  • People clicked on the shared link — The number of friends or followers who clicked on the links shared by the advocates during the period set.

What counts as referral sales

Referral sales data shown on the Reports tab covers:

  • The first and subsequent (2nd, 3rd, 4th, etc.) referred purchases made by referred friends through an advocate's referral link

  • Rewardable and non-rewardable referred purchases. Learn more

  • Commission-chargeable and non-commission-chargeable purchases. Learn more

Referral sales data exclude purchases you deleted and disqualified.

Reports tab or Purchases & referrals? The Reports tab is the summary you read and export. Purchases & referrals is the working list of individual purchases, where you review them one by one and delete a purchase or disqualify a referral.

Affiliate campaigns

Affiliate campaign performance is tracked separately from referral campaigns. You'll find affiliate reporting in three places: an Analytics tab and a Reports tab under Affiliate campaigns, and the tabs inside each individual affiliate campaign (Overview, Affiliates, Commissions, and Brand Lift).

Analytics tab

The Affiliate campaigns Analytics tab shows trended performance across one or all affiliate campaigns, including revenue, commissions, conversions, and affiliate participation.

To access the Analytics tab for affiliate campaigns:

  1. Go to Affiliate campaigns.

  2. Click the Analytics tab.

At the top of the Analytics tab, use the filters to control what you're viewing: a date range (Last 30 days by default) and a campaign selector (a specific affiliate campaign, or All affiliate campaigns).

Affiliate analytics metrics

The Analytics tab for affiliate campaigns groups metrics into the following sections:

  • Campaign performance — financial summary for the selected filters:

    • Affiliate revenue — sales attributed to affiliate campaigns

    • Total commissions paid — commissions already paid out to affiliates

    • Commissions pending — commissions awaiting payout

    • Net affiliate profit — affiliate revenue minus commissions, with a trend chart

  • Conversions — affiliate traffic and outcomes:

    • Link clicks

    • Conversion rate

    • Conversions (shown in a trend chart)

  • Affiliates — affiliate participation and momentum:

    • Active affiliates

    • Inactive affiliates

    • Total enrolled affiliates

    • Active rate

    • New affiliate sign-ups (trend chart)

  • Top affiliates — ranked list with its own Export option.

  • Traffic by location — a map of where your campaign traffic is coming from, with a ranked list of top countries.

Reports tab

The Affiliate campaigns Reports tab is the export-friendly view of your affiliate program. It shows campaign performance for the period you select — Revenue, Conversions, and Active Affiliates — followed by a list of affiliate purchases. Use Export to CSV to export it.

To access the Reports tab for affiliate campaigns:

  1. Go to Affiliate campaigns.

  2. Click the Reports tab.

Per-campaign Overview tab

When you open a specific affiliate campaign, the Overview tab gives you a quick view of that campaign's health and shortcuts to its settings. It shows Revenue, Commissions paid, Conversion rate, and Active affiliates for that campaign, along with your campaign setup checklist and your affiliate join link.

You'll also see shortcut panels for common actions: reward settings, enabled emails and widgets, theme and language settings, and advanced settings. These don't change your analytics — but they can explain why a campaign is performing the way it is (e.g., which emails or widgets are enabled).

Tip: For trended performance over a specific time range, use the Analytics tab at the top of Affiliate campaigns instead.

Per-campaign Affiliates tab

The Affiliates tab inside an affiliate campaign lists the affiliates enrolled in that campaign. It's also where you invite affiliates — one at a time or in bulk via CSV — and where Export exports the list for offline analysis. On a Curated campaign you'll also see a Pending Review view holding applicants waiting for your approval. How applicants get approved depends on your campaign type — see Managing affiliate signups.

Per-campaign Commissions tab

The Commissions tab inside an affiliate campaign shows commission payouts grouped by status — Pending, Processing, Paid, and Failed — each with a total amount and a payout count. Use it to review what's owed, what's been paid, and what's awaiting processing. You can search the list and filter it by date range.

Note: The Commissions tab filters by date range, so an empty list doesn't mean nothing is owed — commissions earned outside the selected dates aren't counted in that view. Use Show everything still outstanding to see all unpaid commissions regardless of date.

Per-campaign Brand Lift tab

If your affiliate campaign has the Brand Lift tab, it shows how affiliate content contributes to store activity in a funnel-style view:

  • Social content views

  • Store visits

  • Referrals made

  • Revenue generated

Each Brand Lift figure is labelled since campaign start, and this tab has no date filter — so don't expect these numbers to line up with the date-filtered Analytics tab. To review specific posts and their engagement, use the View affiliate posts button on this tab.

Seeing a post you don't recognise? If your affiliates haven't posted yet, the Top performing post card shows an example post marked (Sample) so you can see what the tab will look like. It isn't content from your campaign.
