[Other Platforms] Setting the required number of referrals

Set referral milestones and repeating rewards with FlexiTiers, and understand the older required-referrals count.

Use FlexiTiers to reward advocates after a chosen number of successful referrals, including rewards that repeat at regular intervals. Tier milestones follow each advocate's overall referral progress across their referred friends.

Setting the required number of referrals

Open your campaign in the ReferralCandy dashboard, then under Set rewards, select Advocate reward. Use the tier ranges to choose when the advocate earns a reward. See Using FlexiTiers to set up tiered rewards for the setup steps.

For rewards that repeat, open Advanced tier settings and choose Loop tiers - restart at Tier 1 after completing final tier. Purchases must still qualify under your reward conditions and complete their review period.

Before saving, review your existing tier ranges, tier progression starting point and lifetime reward cap. These can affect when an advocate reaches the next reward. Save your changes when the setup matches your intended program.

Where is the old required-referrals field?

The old Advocate reward timing control, also described as Advocate is rewarded every time they reach... or Referrals required for advocate reward, was replaced by tier settings. Use Advocate reward to set up milestone or repeating rewards. If an older campaign still shows a required-referrals count and you need help understanding or changing it, let us know so we can check that campaign with you.

How an older required-referrals count works

In a campaign that still uses an older required-referrals count, that count determines how many rewardable referred purchases accumulate for an advocate before one reward is created. These purchases are made by the advocate's referred friends, not by the advocate.

For example, a count of 3 requires three eligible purchases for one reward. They can come from three different friends, or from one friend making three eligible purchases if repeat purchases qualify. The count combines purchases across the advocate's friends; it does not require three different friends or keep a separate group for each friend.

Each purchase must meet your reward conditions and pass its review period. Purchases in an incomplete group wait until enough eligible purchases have accumulated.

Do not use First X purchase(s) as a substitute: that setting controls which purchases from each friend can qualify. For the difference between a purchase limit and one reward after several purchases, see Reward conditions.

Can I pay an affiliate only after the same customer makes three payments?

First X purchase(s) = 3 does not do this. It makes that customer's first, second and third recorded purchases eligible; it does not skip the first two and pay only on the third. An older required-referrals count of 3 works differently: it combines eligible purchases across the advocate's or affiliate's referred customers. These controls do not keep a separate three-purchase reward group for each customer.

The closest alternative is a FlexiTiers milestone based on the affiliate's overall referral progress. It can delay the reward until the affiliate reaches a chosen number of qualifying referred purchases across all their referred customers. For example, two qualifying purchases from Customer A plus one from Customer B can reach a third-referral milestone, if repeat purchases qualify. It does not wait for either customer individually to make three purchases. See Using FlexiTiers to set up tiered rewards to set up referral milestones.
