How does the free trial work?

ReferralCandy is totally free for 7 days. At the end of the trial, charges for the next month will be automatically billed, regardless if your campaign status is live, paused, or stopped.

  • If you cancel your account before that date ,you won't be charged any base fees, success fee, and add-on fees.

  • If you continue with your account after the free trial, base fees for the coming month are billed on that date and in subsequent months.

    • Add-on and success fees are billed one month after that date and in subsequent months.

Why the first post-trial invoice can feel like it’s “not a 7-day trial”

Some merchants expect the first charge after the trial to be small, but the base fee can look like a “full month” right away. That’s because:

  • The 7-day trial days themselves are free.

  • We do not charge a success fee on referral sales made during this 7 day period.

  • When the trial ends, the base fee is billed in advance for the next billing period that starts immediately after the trial ends (for example, Jan 9 to Feb 9).

So you’re not being charged for the trial period — you’re being billed for the service period that begins after the trial ends.

Tip: If you want to avoid being billed, cancel before your 7-day trial ends.

Go to your Billing page to see your billing period and when your invoice is issued.

How base fees vs. success fees appear on invoices

ReferralCandy invoices usually include two main parts:

  • Base fee: billed in advance at the start of each billing period (for the upcoming period).

  • Success fee: billed on your invoice date for eligible referral sales tracked in the prior billing period (in arrears).

Example timeline (based on the dates in this article’s example):

  • Trial ends on Jan 9, so your billing period runs Jan 9 → Feb 9.

  • On Jan 9, you’re billed the base fee for Jan 9 → Feb 9.

  • On Feb 9, you’re billed:

    • the base fee for Feb 9 → Mar 9 (next period, in advance), and

    • the success fees for referral sales tracked from Jan 9 → Feb 9 (previous period, in arrears).

See an example

If you signed up for a ReferralCandy account on January 2 at 11:00 AM, your 7-day risk-free trial runs from January 2 at 11:00 AM to January 9 at 10:59 AM. Your monthly billing will be based on the date and time when you started the free trial.

What happens after the trial period:

  • If you cancel your account during the free trial, you won't be charged any base fees or success fees.

  • If you continue with your account after the free trial ends:

    • On January 9 at 11:00 am, you'll be charged the base fee for the upcoming month, January 9 to February 9.

    • On February 9 at 11:00 am, you'll be charged the add-on and success fees for your first month of usage after the trial, and the base fee for the next billing period, February 9 to March 9.

    • Future monthly charges will recur every 9th of the month.

Note: After signup, the free trial can't be paused or extended.

ReferralCandy free trial FAQ

Can I sign up for ReferralCandy with a Yahoo email address?

Yes. Although Yahoo's policies prevent services like ReferralCandy from sending out emails on your behalf, you can use a Yahoo email address to sign up for ReferralCandy.

Once you set up your account, ReferralCandy will ask for a non-Yahoo email address, which we'll use to send out emails for your referral program.

You can change your sender ("Sent From") email address by following this article.

Why do I have to add my credit card or payment details during the risk-free trial?

During the risk-free trial, you'll have access to the full suite of features that ReferralCandy offers, which includes sending out emails to others regarding your referral program.

Email deliverability is important as it allows ReferralCandy to run your referral programs effectively. Unfortunately, there have been instances in the past where customers have misused the email sending feature, compromising the email deliverability for everyone else on the platform.

As such, payment details are required to protect customers from malicious behavior that could impact their referral program performance.

Note: If you cancel anytime within the risk-free 7-day trial period, you will not be charged.
