ReferralCandy extracts the subtotal amount from the invoices that you forward to ReferralCandy and use this figure as the basis for calculating percentage-based cash rewards or ReferralCandy success fees. The subtotal is the amount after any discount is applied, but before taxes and shipping are added in

However, this can only happen if the subtotal amount is explicitly stated in the information sent to ReferralCandy based on your integration:

  • Invoice emails with email integration

  • Purchases and referral tracking code with JavaScript Integration

  • API calls with API Integration

  • For platforms that have a custom integration with ReferralCandy such as Shopify, BigCommerce, or WooCommerce, the subtotal amount is directly extracted from the platform

  • If the subtotal amount is not explicitly stated, the next amount closest to the subtotal amount is used to calculate cash rewards or success fees

Example: The subtotal amount is available in the invoice

Information in invoice:

  • Price of product: $100

  • Discount: 10%

  • Subtotal: $90

  • S&H: $10.00

  • Taxes: $5.00

  • Total: $105

In this example, ReferralCandy uses the subtotal from the invoice (i.e., $90) to calculate the cash reward amount or success fee.

Example: There is no subtotal amount explicitly stated in the invoice

Information in invoice:

  • Price of product: $100

  • Discount: 10%

  • S&H: $10.00

  • Taxes: $5.00

  • Total: $105

In this example, the subtotal amount is not present in the invoice. ReferralCandy uses the total amount (i.e., $105) to calculate the cash reward or success fee.
