You can unsubscribe a contact to stop them from receiving email communications about your campaign.
Whether a contact is subscribed or unsubscribed has no bearing on whether they can participate in your referral or affiliate program. If you wish to stop an enrolled advocate from referring and earning rewards, read How to ban a contact.
Unsubscribe contacts
Account level (Non-Shopify)
To unsubscribe a contact on the account or store level from the ReferralCandy dashboard:
On the ReferralCandy dashboard, go to Contacts.
In the search bar, find the contact using their name or email address.
When the contact is found, click Unsubscribe under the Action column.
Once done, the contact is tagged as Unsubscribed under Email Notifications.
To resubscribe a contact, repeat the steps above and click Resubscribe.
Note: For Shopify merchants, you may remove contacts from your subscribers list by following this Shopify guide. Note that this action unsubscribes the contacts from all marketing emails sent by your store, not just ReferralCandy emails.
Campaign level
To unsubscribe a contact or multiple contacts from receiving marketing emails on the campaign level:
Go to your campaign's Advocates page:
Click the checkboxes next to the contacts who you want to unsubscribe.
Click Unsubscribe.
A popup appears. Click Confirm to proceed.
To resubscribe a contact, repeat the steps above and click Subscribe.
Batch unsubscribe via CSV (Non-Shopify)
To unsubscribe multiple contacts from the ReferralCandy dashboard:
Prepare a CSV file with the following columns:
email - contains the contacts' email addresses.
locale - contains the contacts' language preferences.
On the ReferralCandy dashboard, go to the Contacts page.
Click Unsubscribe Customers.
A popup form appears. Click the Upload CSV file button and select the file from your device.
Once the file is uploaded, click Unsubscribe Customers.
You can unsub a maximum of 10,000 contacts per file.
Subscribed vs. unsubscribed
The table below highlights which emails your customers receive depending on whether they are subscribed or unsubscribed from receiving campaign emails.
Only customers who are enrolled in your campaign receive the referral emails listed below. Unenrolled advocates may also receive account-related emails.
