If you store supports multiple languages, you can add these languages to your campaigns so your referral or affiliate program reaches a wider audience.

Before you start multi-language integration

  • Enable multiple languages for your referral or affiliate program

  • You may need a developer to help you with multiple language integration

  • Some languages may not be supported by ReferralCandy

Multiple languages based on integration

The steps to enable multiple language integration depends on the type of integration you're using to connect your store to ReferralCandy.

Email integration

Specify the advocate's preferred language in the invoice email that's BCC’ed to ReferralCandy using the list of locale abbreviations below.

For example, add "es" to the invoice for Spanish. This can be added anywhere in the invoice email, which helps ReferralCandy identify the preferred language for that advocate. The language information in the invoice is automatically scanned once sent.

JavaScript and API integrations

Specify the advocate's preferred language as part of the JavaScript integration using the list of locale abbreviations below. For example, data-locale="es" lets the ReferralCandy system know that you want to use the Spanish template for this advocate.

Shopify

Important: On Shopify, you can only use the languages listed in Supported languages below. Shopify controls the customer’s locale that gets sent to ReferralCandy, so unsupported locales can’t be mapped to another language. If Shopify sends an unsupported locale, those customers will see your campaign’s default language instead.

Supported languages

The the languages follow the ISO 639-1 standard:

Note: Shopify merchants can only use the Supported languages listed below.

  • Brazilian Portuguese: pt-br

  • English (Default): en

  • Chinese (Simplified): zh-CN

  • Chinese (Traditional, HK): zh-HK

  • Chinese (Traditional, TW): zh-TW

  • Danish: da

  • Dutch: nl

  • French: fr

  • German: de

  • Italian: it

  • Japanese: ja

  • Norwegian: no

  • Russian: ru

  • Spanish: es

  • Swedish: sv

Language not supported? This workaround only applies to non-Shopify integrations (Email, JavaScript, or API), where you can pass a supported locale to ReferralCandy. Shopify merchants can’t map unsupported languages.
