Connecting Google Analytics to your referral program pages is extremely easy. Sign up for a Google Analytics account, if you haven't already done so.

Step 1: Create a separate Google Analytics Property

We highly recommend creating a different Google Analytics Property from the one you're already using for your eCommerce store. This will help you distinguish between the sessions on ReferralCandy and those on your store.

Start by clicking the Create Property button in the sidebar.

For the Default URL, you will need to provide your ReferralCandy Portal Link URL. Find this URL at the top of your ReferralCandy Email and Pages admin page, as seen in the screenshot below.

Once that's done, your unique Google Analytics Tracking ID can be found under your GA Property Settings.

Step 2: Add your Google Analytics Tracking ID to ReferralCandy pages

Return to the ReferralCandy Dashboard and simply add your Google Analytics Tracking ID from Step 1, paste it into the Google Analytics ID field in your Marketing Analytics dashboard:

That's it! The form auto-saves.

Pageviews to your referral program may take up to 24 hours to appear on your GA dashboard.

Optional: Track Visitors to Your eCommerce Store

Do you want to measure your referral program's success at driving traffic to your eCommerce store? To track the number of customers ReferralCandy sends to your store, you need to set up a separate GA property, and add the tracking code for that property to your store's code. Here's how to interpret the data we send to your Google Analytics.

Developer-mode only Features: Cross-domain Tracking, Custom Events

You may want a unified view to track a user as they go from your ReferralCandy pages all the way to making a purchase at your store (and back to ReferralCandy as they go on to refer their friends). This requires something called "cross-domain tracking".

Alternatively, you may be looking to customize the events you track in GA, like defining your own conversion metrics which are triggered by button clicks or form submissions. Getting these set up is rather involved and will require you to manually edit the code on your online store and your ReferralCandy pages.

ReferralCandy's direct Google Analytics integration does not support such customization. However, our email and pages offer the ability to add custom code (we do not provide code assistance through the support team). We recommend getting your developers' help to do this.
