ReferralCandy can automatically send data straight to your Google Analytics dashboard so you can optimize your marketing funnel and ad spend, and identify which social networks your customers use to share their referral links.

Install Google Analytics to your eCommerce store to see how many visitors your referral program brings to your store.

ReferralCandy events in Google Analytics

ReferralCandy sends a number of events to Google Analytics. Here’s how they’ll appear in Google Analytics:

  • In your Google Analytics dashboard, go to Acquisition > All Traffic > Channels. Visitors referred by their friends through ReferralCandy have the UTM_Source referralcandy or refcandy.

  • In your Google Analytics dashboard, go to Acquisition > All Traffic > Source/Medium. Visitors referred by their friends through ReferralCandy will show the UTM_Medium, which is the social network your customer shared their referral link on, such as:

    • Facebook

    • Facebook Messenger

    • X (formerly Twitter)

    • WhatsApp

    • Telegram (for Telegram Messenger)

• Direct (when your customer shares the referral link directly, without using other sharing options)

Shopify merchants

Shopify provides its own analytics, which affects how the data appear in Google Analytics. Shopify merchants see the UTM_Source as referral and the UTM_Medium as affiliate, which can't be customized as Shopify relies on these parameters to monitor app performance and detect referrals.
