Editing the default X, Facebook and WhatsApp sharing message

Customize the default X, Facebook, and WhatsApp sharing messages and images your advocates post when they share their referral link.

Customize the default X (formerly Twitter), Facebook, and WhatsApp sharing messages and images that appear when your advocates share their link on social media. You can directly edit Facebook, X, and WhatsApp here; the other share icons advocates see derive from these or use a fixed template.

To edit your social media sharing settings:

  1. Open the Social media messages page:

    • Shopify β€” from your Shopify admin, go to Campaigns, select your campaign, then under Customize campaign click Social media messages.

    • Other platforms β€” from the ReferralCandy dashboard, go to Campaigns, select your campaign, then click Social media messages.

  2. If you use multiple languages, choose the language you want to edit from the Language dropdown.

  3. Edit your Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), or WhatsApp sharing message. A live preview updates as you edit, and each field shows its character limit beneath it.

  4. Click Save (Save changes on other platforms).

Note: Edits to your sharing messages aren't translated automatically β€” add the translation for each enabled language yourself.


Facebook

In the Facebook section, customize your default sharing message and image:

  • Edit the Facebook share card title.

  • Edit the Facebook share card body.

  • Set the card title and body shown when the campaign is paused or stopped.

  • Add a custom image to the share card. Use 1200px by 630px, in JPG or PNG, up to 1MB. Under Brand image, you can:

    • Select Custom image to upload an image from your device.

    • Select Default logo to use your store's logo as the card image.

X (formerly Twitter)

In the X section, customize your default sharing message and image:

  • Add your X handle to the post.

  • Edit the X message.

  • Set the message shown when the campaign is paused or stopped.

  • Tick Include Twitter Card support to add a card. Once enabled, you can:

    • Edit the X share card title.

    • Edit the X share card description.

    • Set the card title and description shown when the campaign is paused or stopped.

    • Add a custom image to the card. Recommended size is 800px by 418px, in JPG or PNG, up to 1MB.

WhatsApp

In the WhatsApp section, customize your default WhatsApp message:

  • Edit the WhatsApp message.

  • Set the message shown when the campaign is paused or stopped.

The other share icons

Advocates can also share via Telegram, Threads, Messenger, and email. You can't edit these directly β€” they're based on the messages above or use a fixed template:

  • Telegram uses your WhatsApp message.

  • Threads uses your X message.

  • Messenger shares the referral link only (no custom message).

  • Email uses a fixed ReferralCandy template that can't be edited.
