The friend offer popup is a Shopify app embed that appears on your homepage when a referred friend is redirected to your store via the Advocate's referral link.
Important: If you wish to enable the friend offer popup, you must disable the Friend Offer Page on your campaign's Widgets page.
Friend offer page vs. popup
The friend offer page and friend offer popup serve the same purpose, which is to provide the discount code to the referred friend. The friend offer popup is a more seamless and improved option compared to the friend offer page.
If you wish to bring the referred friend directly to your Shopify store after clicking on a referral link, the friend offer popup is the recommended widget.
Using the friend offer popup
Step 1: Turn on the friend offer popup
To activate the friend offer popup:
From your Shopify admin, go to the App embeds page.
Toggle on Friend Offer Popup.
Customize the popup. You can do the following:
Upload a background image. The recommended image height is 87.5 pixels or a 4:1 aspect ratio.
Show or hide the divider line
Show or hide the copy icon
Show or hide the filled background behind the close icon
Click Save.
The popup follows your store's theme, such as the color, typography, and button settings.
Note: The friend offer popup heading "Here's [offer description]" is derived from the Reward description set for the friend offer. To edit this, go to the Referral Candy app > Campaigns > Select your campaign > Friend offer > Discount value.
Step 2: Disable the friend offer page
The friend offer popup replaces the default friend offer page for your store. To avoid the two widgets from conflicting, you must disable the friend offer page to use the popup widget:
From your Shopify admin, go to the Referral Candy app > Campaigns > Select your campaign. In the Promote campaign section, click Widgets.
Scroll down to find the Friend offer page section.
Click Turn off to disable. Wait for the changes to save.
