Extend the reach of your referral program by enabling coupon codes for subscription products managed by Shopify subscription apps. You can enable this feature for the Advocate and Friend Offer on one-time products, subscription products, or both.
What you’ll need:
A Shopify store
A third-party subscription app that is integrated with your Shopify store that uses Shopify’s Subscription API (non-exhaustive sample list below)
ReCharge Subscriptions
Seal Subscriptions
Skio Subscriptions
Bold Subscriptions
Loop Subscriptions
Products managed by the subscription app (can be one-time purchases, subscription products, or both)
Note: If available (and where applicable), it is recommended to first directly integrate with your subscription platform here: https://my.referralcandy.com/integration before proceeding.
Setting up the reward
You can set up the coupon code reward to discount purchases made by Advocates and their Referred Friends on subscription products, one-time purchases, or both.
Go to your Campaign then go to Rewards.
Click the Advocate Reward or Friend Offer tab, then choose Coupon.
Toggle the Enable coupon for subscription apps on.
Choose from the remaining coupon settings available.
Click Save Changes.
In this example, the Advocate gets a 20% off on either a subscription or a one-time purchase, and the Referred Friend gets a 25% coupon code for subscription products only.
Getting an error message?
Getting an error message?
If you are seeing this error on your ReferralCandy dashboard, this means that we’ve lost connection to the third-party subscription app integrated with your Shopify store. Your referral program will still be active but the coupon codes will work only on products not managed by the subscription app, regardless if they’re a subscription or one-time purchase.
If you’ve removed the subscription app from your Shopify store, you may disregard the error message.
To resume using coupon codes for products using subscription apps:
Ensure that your third-party subscription app is connected to your Shopify store. Please follow the instructions provided by the third-party app on their support site.
Go back to your ReferralCandy dashboard and follow the steps outlined above to re-enable the settings.
