Liquid is an open-source template language created by Shopify. ReferralCandy uses Liquid to let you insert dynamic content into your campaign emails and ReferralCandy pages.
You can use Liquid variables in ReferralCandy templates regardless of your store platform. For Shopify merchants, if you need code-level edits to the Theme itself, use your campaign Theme’s Developer Mode.
This keeps the article platform-general while still pointing Shopify merchants to the new editing path.
Note: The reward_setup variable is deprecated with the introduction of FlexiTiers for Shopify and other platforms. Use the tier_reward_setup variable instead.
Note: Liquid variables can only be used in ReferralCandy’s built-in emails and pages. They do not work in your store platform’s built-in emails, such as Shopify’s native order confirmation email.
Each Liquid variable only works in specific ReferralCandy templates. For example, some variables can be used in advocate emails, while others only work on certain referral pages.
Use the ReferralCandy Liquid Variables PDF to check which variables are available for each email and page before editing.
Before you start:
This article is for advanced customization using Liquid variables in ReferralCandy templates.
Liquid variables can be used regardless of your store platform, as long as you’re editing a supported ReferralCandy email or page.
If you’re a Shopify merchant and need code-level edits to the Theme itself, use your campaign Theme’s Developer Mode.
For standard text, logo, banner, color, and font changes, use the Theme editor instead.
Download the ReferralCandy Liquid reference guide for the full list of supported variables and the emails/pages where each one can be used.
